Cold climate suitable for beer brewing
Our headwaters brewery is located in Kosuge Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, which is adjacent to Tokyo and has a climate similar to that of Northern Europe where there are a lot of traditional microbreweries.
We are working on various styles of beer brewing, including the Far Yeast Tokyo series, in a place where the temperature, which is important for beer fermentation, is optimal.
Great nature and clean water from the Tama headwaters
Kosuge Village has a population of about 700, and more than 90% of the village is forest, which is a land rich in nature.
It is also the headwaters of the Tama River, which is one of the water sources of Tokyo. The beer produced at the headwater brewery uses the clean water from the Tama headwaters.
Connect with the community and coexist and co-create
In 2020, the headquarters function of Far Yeast Brewing was relocated to Kosuge Village, where the brewery is located.
Since the opening of the brewery in 2017, we have been collaborating with Kosuge Village, businesses in the village, and businesses and producers in Yamanashi Prefecture. We will continue to value the connection even more and aim for co-creation.

A brewery with the Far Yeast Brewing tap room, “Far Yeast Tokyo Brewery & Grill” in Gotanda. Experimental beer brewing is possible with a small-scale brewing facility that is about 1/10 of the amount charged at the Far Yeast headwater brewery. We embody the ideas and techniques of each Far Yeast Brewing brewer and accelerate free beer brewing.
Create a relationship with customers through fresh beer
Fresh beer made at the Tokyo Brewery is served immediately in the tap room. This place is one of our important bases where we can connect with our customers through beer.

Starting from the idea of “People all over the world can enjoy beer that shines on the Japanese table,” “KAGUA” was made at the De Graal brewery in Belgium based on our original recipe. De Graal is proud of its high quality, and even now we have our own brewery in Japan, it still outsources the brewing of “KAGUA”.

Far Yeast Tokyo series was released after “KAGUA” and the beer brewed at our brewery are influenced by traditional Belgian styles such as in-bottle secondary fermentation methods. Our original and diverse beers are based on the Belgian style, incorporating the latest American craft beer trends, and are constantly improving to be unique tastes impressed by the culture of Japan and the region.
